We are incredibly proud to have partnered on the passive house renovation of 28 homes in Enschede. Our entirely prefabricated timber façade elements, delivered pre-fitted with joinery and technical ducts, significantly cut assembly time and costs. This project stands as a testament to how our innovative approach can rapidly transform existing housing into highly energy-efficient, comfortable, and sustainable living spaces that meet stringent passive house standards.
Project Overview
Twenty-eight of the 33 existing homes in Enschede’s Bijvank-Noord neighborhood underwent a comprehensive passive house renovation. The project involved replacing the original building envelopes with new, highly insulated timber envelopes, which were entirely prefabricated by MBS. To maximize efficiency, the exterior joinery and ducts for power cables and other technical services were pre-fitted at the MBS plant, leading to a considerable reduction in on-site assembly time and overall costs. Following this extensive renovation, the homes now meet rigorous passive house standards. The combination of superior insulation and advanced ventilation systems ensures a consistently pleasant indoor climate, resulting in extremely minimal energy consumption for the residents.
