The old Scanfil site in Hoboken has been comprehensively redeveloped to create a vibrant new complex featuring three apartment blocks of varying heights (five, nine, and eleven storeys). This development now comprises 118 flats specifically designed for older people, managed by the Antwerp care provider Zorgbedrijf Antwerpen, alongside various neighborhood amenities and a crèche/nursery school.

The shell of these impressive blocks incorporates 6,000 m² of MBS's prefabricated timber-frame components. MBS was instrumental in this phase, drafting detailed blueprints based on the architect’s design and engaging in regular consultations with all involved parties. This meticulous planning ensured adherence to crucial technical aspects and requirements, including stability, heat and air tightness, watertightness, acoustics, fire safety, and precise tolerances. A key design decision, given the cascading balconies, involved having the building shell pass directly through the concrete structure (columns and floor slab) to minimize thermal bridges and guarantee façade watertightness. Furthermore, a specific fire-safety blueprint for the timber-frame façade elements was developed in strict accordance with the Royal Decree on basic fire-safety standards and thoroughly tested with the local fire brigade.
