We are proud to be a key partner in the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht project, delivering the entire prefabricated timber-frame façade. Our ability to pre-fit joinery and work seamlessly with BIM-based designs ensures exceptional efficiency and contributes significantly to achieving the building's BREEAM 'Excellent' certification, showcasing our commitment to high-performance, sustainable educational infrastructure.
Project Overview
The HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht is set to gain a new, state-of-the-art building on the Bolognalaan car park site in Utrecht, developed by the SPARK consortium (BESIX and Strukton Worksphere). This expansive structure, designed by renowned Danish architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen, will span approximately 22,000 m² and embody principles of efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability.
MBS is responsible for delivering the entire facade, comprising prefabricated timber-frame construction components. These components will arrive on-site with joinery already pre-fitted at the MBS production plant, with anodized aluminum cladding to be applied to the timber structure. The project's BIM-based design ensures streamlined and efficient cooperation among all involved parties. A central aim of the new building is to achieve an 'Excellent' rating on the BREEAM scale, a globally recognized standard for assessing the overall sustainability performance of buildings, ensuring its environmental credentials both upon completion and throughout its operational life.
