The Stadshaven housing project marks the inaugural development on the west side of the canal basin in Hasselt, forming a crucial link between the city center and the emerging Blauwe Boulevard quarter. This significant urban development was undertaken as a joint venture between Kumpen and Democo, resulting in the construction of 62 luxury apartments and six integrated shopping units.

MBS played a key role in this project by adding the top storeys to the apartment blocks, utilizing their specialized timber-frame construction method. This application of timber-frame construction highlights its suitability for upward extensions, offering efficient and high-quality solutions for modern residential buildings within strategic urban regeneration areas.
