We’re incredibly proud to have built 250 sustainable holiday villas for Terhills Park in a mere 10 months, even amidst a global crisis. Our industrial prefabrication capabilities allowed us to produce comprehensive timber-frame components—complete with joinery, cladding, and interior walls—and assemble two homes daily on-site. This project truly showcases our unique position in delivering large-scale, high-quality, and rapidly constructed sustainable resorts.
Project Overview
The Terhills holiday park in Belgium is a groundbreaking sustainable resort, seamlessly blending into its natural surroundings with 250 energy-efficient villas. These villas are designed across five types, offering waterside accommodation for groups ranging from 2 to 12 people.
A core strength of this project was the industrial prefabrication of all villas by MBS at their Genk plant, utilizing sustainable materials and the timber-frame construction method. This technique, known for its speed and sustainability, is rapidly gaining traction in the holiday sector. Despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus crisis, MBS successfully produced and assembled all 250 holiday homes in an unprecedented 10 months.
This remarkable speed was directly attributable to the construction methodology: homes were prefabricated at MBS's industrial plant, with comprehensive timber-frame components (including joinery, façade cladding, roof cladding, and interior walls) then transported to the former mining site at Terhills for assembly. This efficient process allowed for the erection of two houses per day, a pace unheard of with traditional construction methods. This demonstrates MBS's exceptional production capacity and unique market position for large and complex timber-frame construction projects.
